Summersville Memorial Hospital to hold two Freedom From Smoking classes

Summersville Memorial Hospital will conduct two Freedom From Smoking classes for individuals who would like to quit using tobacco products. This program is a cessation program developed by the American Lung Association to help tobacco users at all levels kick the habit.

The first class begins on Thursday, July 10, for the public and the second for Lowe’s employees is scheduled to begin on Monday, Aug. 4. The classes are an hour and a half, for seven consecutive weeks. The July 10 class will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Community Clinic located on the Friends-R-Fun Campus on Highway 41. The Aug. 4 class will be held at Lowe’s in Summersville from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
Melissa Woods, Registered Respiratory Therapist at Summersville Memorial Hospital will be the class instructor. Ms. Woods will help you identify why you use tobacco products and help you learn techniques to stay smoke free once you quit. A strong support network that is built in each class helps everyone become tobacco free. Diet and nutrition are also discussed, as some individuals believe they may gain weight if they cease the use of tobacco products.
