New Parking Lot
The
Summersville Memorial Hospital is currently expanding it's parking
areas to accomodate growth. Here is an artist's rendition showing the
new entrances and parking area in front of the hospital. The new parking
lot will increase parking in front of the acute care building from
36 spaces to approximately 99 spaces. Additional staff parking in the rear
will also
be available. The lots will be ready for use in early summer. Click

Expansion Plans
The areas in red (in the images above and below) are the proposed areas
of expansion for ER, ICU, Lab and Medical Records. The current ED (Emergency
Department)
experiences approximately 24,000 visits per year with ten beds. The
new ED will
have three triage rooms and eighteen treatment areas which should drastically
increase the speed of an ED visit. The current throughput time for
the average
SMH visit is approximately 2 ½ hours. This time varies based on volume
and the tests required for the visit.
The new construction will also include a new ambulance entrance, separate
from the walk-in ED entrance, expanded waiting areas, a gift shop and security
desk. A new ICU will be added which includes family areas for individuals
staying with critically ill patients.
Future Expansion Plans
Future
expansion includes the replacement of the 52 bed long term care unit with
a new, comfort designed facility on the flat behind the current hospital.
